For the New York launch of Valerie Hsiung's book The Pedestrian, artists Brian Alarcon, Bo Hwang and Neshat Sadat Mansoori perfomed a sonic/ movement piece based on the narrative, lanuage and experience of reading the book.
Pulling language from Nod (Fanny Howe), The Notebook (Agota Kristof) and The Pedestrian itself, the performers embody childhood through mischeviousness, excitement, tenderness and lack of control. Through the choreography, the performers play real and imaginary games, embrace, attack and carry each other.
Valerie Hsiung provided two vocal tracks for the performance.
Nightboat Books organized the event at Dear Friends Books in Bed-Stuy.
